Loaves & Fishes is a non-profit food rescue organization rescuing food that would otherwise be wasted from grocers and restaurants and delivering the food to agencies that feed the hungry throughout Greenville County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working in a team environment, the Development Coordinator will provide staff leadership for the annual fundraising activities of Loaves & Fishes.  She/he will help to develop and implement the annual fund raising plan and work to accomplish its goals.  While this position has typical business working hours, some evening and/or weekend work will be expected.  Professional business attire will be required during normal working hours because of frequent interaction with volunteers and staff.

Specific responsibilities include:

Development Plan: develop short and long range fundraising goals for funding sources in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board; review donor histories to identify opportunities to increase giving; expand current donor database through cultivation of new donors;  identify new donors in the community who value Loaves & Fishes’ mission and target them for initial contacts. Raise the awareness of the L&F's mission through effective Marketing/PR strategy-set forth by Executive Director and Board.

Coaching/Training/Mentoring:  work with Board to develop relationships with Board contacts; facilitate Board introductions and solicitations of potential new donors.

Other:  Manage, direct and assist volunteer leaders with planning and execution of fundraising events such as Taste of the Upstate and Rock Out Hunger.  Expand use of website “campaign” fundraising option; assist in the research and preparation of grants and other funding requests; direct the development of support materials for multiple target audiences; strategize and orchestrate methods of approach to institutional donors.  Strong public speaking skills targeting wide range of groups with differing ages, educational levels, and cultural makeups. Creation and execution of social media directed campaigns as well as day-to-day postings. Maintain website. Assist Executive Director in creation and execution of large donation campaigns using direct mail and digital marketing. Manage relationships with existing donors and corporate partners. Maintain and deepen relationships with local media outlets.

Education/Experience Required:  The Development Coordinator has attained a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and has a minimum of two years sales or marketing or fundraising experience.  Nonprofit experience is a plus. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:  Outstanding spoken and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.  Self-starter and extremely resourceful, able to work effectively without close supervision. Handling of multiple projects at once and the ability to meet deadlines, budgets and goals are critical.  Ability to multi-task is essential.  The Development Coordinator will be detail oriented, computer literate and well organized with complete familiarity with Microsoft Office, applications, web content management systems, and business use of social media.  Commitment to the hunger relief mission of Loaves & Fishes is expected.  Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
