The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization that receives, invests and administers private support to benefit the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind.  Its continuing mission is to create and maintain philanthropic relationships with faculty, staff, friends, corporations and foundations that are committed to the success of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, its students and its goals.  Foundation resources support the present and future needs of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, the only specialized school for South Carolina’s children K-12 who are deaf, blind or sensory multi-disabled.  Contributions to the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation make it possible to provide critical financial support to assist with the many programs and services provided by SCSDB.  Donors help to sustain a tradition of academic excellence and meet the needs of the SCSDB students.

 

The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation Board of Trustees is seeking an Executive Director to lead the Foundation team in developing and executing fundraising plans and creating new and exciting strategies for major gift outreach.  As the chief strategist, operating officer and administrator of the Foundation, the Executive Director is responsible for developing, executing, tracking and reporting on the Foundation advancement efforts, donor cultivation, strategic initiatives and management of the Foundation’s funds.  The Executive Director reports directly to the SCSDB Foundation Board of Trustees.

 

The Executive Director will provide oversight for all marketing and communication efforts of the Foundation.  Additionally, the Executive Director serves as the liaison to the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind President’s Office and is responsible for ensuring seamless and coordinated strategic advancements and communication efforts between the two organizations.

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; at least 5 years of proven not for profit experience managing a multifaceted fundraising program.  Knowledge of Raisers Edge database program, excellent communication, writing, computer and interpersonal skills; a record of measurable results in organizing and implementing activities such as:  major gifts, annual gifts, grant writing, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail and special events.  The Foundation office is located on the campus of SCSDB in Spartanburg, SC.  Some travel required.

 

Personal Qualities:  A well-organized strategic planner who is able to prioritize and multi-task; highly energetic and focused; resourceful, innovative and flexible; strong management and leadership skills; self-motivated; diplomatic and persistent in pursuit of the organization’s development plans.
